Best Alcohol & Drug Rehab for Texas Residents

Struggling with substance use disorders can make you feel like you’re falling down a black hole. Regardless of whether you live in Houston Texas or in Corpus Christi, if you have a drug addiction or alcohol addiction, the only way that you will be able to achieve the long-term addiction recovery support that you need is when you partner with a Texas treatment center that understands where you’re coming from. You can ensure that you work with a top rehab in several ways. Here are some steps that you should take:

Ask for help from friends and family members

There are many times when an individual may be too sick to be able to find the right addiction treatment facility for them. However, they understand that they need to coordinate with a treatment center if they want to save their life. You can always ask your friends and family members to help you find the best addiction treatment center. If your loved ones decide to reach out to Novo, our intake team will be more than happy to speak to your loved ones and answer any questions or concerns that they may have regarding our facility. From there, we can also take steps to help you stage an intervention (if needed) and provide you with resources you can tap into during this difficult time.

Do your research

The internet is a great tool that you can use in your search for the right addiction treatment center. To ensure that you find the best treatment center that meets your needs, you should take some time and do some research on the internet. Taking time to read through the types of treatment offered at that facility and some of the testimonials or insights from past clients can help you learn what that facility is all about. At times, this research is something that can be overwhelming. You should start by narrowing down what area you want to go to for treatment. Do you want to stay closer to home or would you rather get some distance between yourself and your addiction struggles? Your family and addiction treatment team can help you to make this decision.

Reach out

You should never decide to commit to an addiction treatment facility without getting in touch with their intake team first. Any top-rated treatment facility will understand that the drive to work through addiction is something that can come at any time, day or night. Regardless of when you reach out to the intake team, you should always have a list of questions regarding the type of treatment you will experience. This will help you to feel more comfortable with the premise of the treatment program and also aid you in making the most out of your time in treatment.

Remember, addiction isn’t something that developed overnight. Therefore, it will take more than just a few days for you to work through all of the contributing factors of your addiction and truly heal from its impact of it. When you do reach out for help, it will be a process. However, when you partner with a facility such as Novo, you can rest assured that you will work with some of the best addiction experts in the industry.

Addiction Treatment Services - Our Full Continuum of Care

As addiction experts, we believe providing every client with a full continuum of care is important. But what does this mean exactly? This means that when you work with our treatment team, you will have the peace of mind of knowing that you have an entire team of individuals there with you and for you, as you work through the challenging issues of addiction and recovery. You will be able to take advantage of a wide range of treatment options. From initial drug or alcohol detox to transitioning into a formal rehab program to taking advantage of an aftercare program, all of these life-changing opportunities are available to you when you decide to work with Novo.

Regardless of whether you need to work through a drug or an alcohol rehab, there are certain forms of addiction therapy you will need to participate in throughout the time you’re in treatment. This is because addiction therapy will help you uncover the root cause of your drug or alcohol addiction. The root cause of addiction is different for every person. In most cases, addiction is something that developed as part of experiencing some form of trauma. Similar to addiction, trauma is something that comes in many different shapes and forms. For example, an individual may have experienced trauma in their childhood or may have experienced that trauma later on in life. Regardless of when they experienced it, however, if they do not address that trauma in a healthy manner, they may be at serious risk of developing a disease.

Although addiction therapy is something that may feel awkward at times, openly and actively participating in therapy will help you to work through these contributing factors of your addiction and provide you with the foundation that you need to address your addiction going forward so that you don’t fall back into that vicious trap. Here are just a few examples of addiction therapy that you will experience during your time at Novo:

Individual therapy

Individual therapy is one of the cornerstones of addiction therapy. This is because it provides you with the personalized experience you may need with your recovery team while you’re in treatment. For example, there may be certain events in your life that you don’t feel comfortable sharing in a group setting. However, this doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be addressed. Individual therapy gives you the private interaction that you may need with your treatment team.

Group therapy

Group therapy is something that can be incredibly beneficial. One of the downfalls of addiction is the fact that it can make you feel as though you’re completely alone when it comes to what you’re thinking and feeling when it comes to addiction. Group therapy can help show you that others are experiencing the same issues as you as they work through their addiction. This type of connection can be incredibly beneficial when it comes to developing a good basis for your system of support, which is very important as you work your way through addiction treatment.

Family therapy

If you have struggled to maintain relationships with your family during the time that you were in active addiction, family therapy is a form of counseling that can help you to redevelop those connections once again. During family therapy, you can interact with your loved ones in a neutral environment. This type of communication is something that should only ever be done when you come to a place in your recovery where you’re ready to deal with the challenges that may come with this form of therapy. Selecting which family members you want to be part of this form of therapy and its timing is key to ensuring that you can make the most out of this form of therapy.

Behavioral therapy

Behavioral therapy is something that will be another cornerstone during the time that you’re in addiction treatment. Regardless of whether you suffered from alcohol addiction or drug addiction, there is a strong possibility that you developed negative behaviors which could negatively impact your chances of sobriety going forward. Behavioral therapy will help you to identify this behavior and then take steps to change it. This is something that can be particularly helpful for individuals who may be suffering from a co-occurring disorder such as addiction and depression, anxiety, or PTSD.

Unfortunately, mental health issues are something that is incredibly common for a person that is also suffering from addiction. In some instances, a person may come to our treatment facility and already have a diagnosis of some form of mental illness while many others come to Novo with an undiagnosed case. As part of coming to Novo, we will assess whether or not you are suffering from mental illness and consider this when putting together your treatment plan. Sadly, there is still a highly negative stigma associated with mental illness which is one of the leading reasons why so many are hesitant to reach out for help or admit that something may be wrong. Our recovery team works toward removing that stigma so you can finally get the help and care you truly need.

Another aspect of your treatment that you will need to consider revolves around the length of time that you will need to spend in addiction treatment. The average length of time of an addiction treatment program is anywhere between 30 and 90 days. A 30-day treatment program is commonly referred to as a short-term treatment program. This length of time is ideal for a person who may be limited on how much time they can commit to treatment or who simply doesn’t feel comfortable with this level of commitment. A 60-day treatment program is a middle-of-the-ground type of program. You will have the time to start to build on the foundation of your initial 30 days, but you will not be locked into completing a long-term 90-day treatment program. A 90-day treatment program, on the other hand, is defined as a long-term treatment program. This option gives you the most time to navigate your addiction and put together a plan to overcome your addiction and maintain your sobriety for the rest of your life.

Remember, you can always change your program at any time meaning that you can decide to start off in a 30-day program and then transition into a 60 or 90-day treatment program. Your treatment team will continuously check in with you throughout your recovery to ensure that you’re still taking steps in the right direction when working through your addiction.

Drug Detox

For many people, before they can begin their drug addiction treatment, they must first work through a detox program. At Novo, this is one of the levels of care that we offer. Detox is something that impacts every person differently. When you initially reach out to our intake team, it’s key that you’re completely transparent when it comes to the extent of your substance abuse. Your intake team will ask you several different questions regarding your addiction including your drug of choice, the frequency of your use, and how long you have been abusing the substance.

The reason that we ask these questions regarding your substance abuse is not to embarrass you or to make you feel bad. Instead, it’s so that we can better plan and prepare for the possible withdrawal symptoms that you may experience during the time that you’re in drug detox. For example, an individual with severe opioid addiction may struggle with different withdrawal symptoms in comparison to an individual who has struggled with heroin addiction.

Drug Rehab

Once you complete drug detox, you should always transition into a drug rehab program. Although you will indeed feel much better following drug detox, it doesn’t mean that your addiction issues are resolved. Drug rehab will provide you with the structure and the environment you need to address your addiction issues with the peace of mind of knowing that you’re working with a team who will be there with you through each stage of your recovery. Keep in mind that your treatment program is completely customizable, so if any changes or adjustments need to be made during your recovery journey, your treatment team can coordinate that for you.

Alcohol Detox

In many ways, there are similarities between drug detox and alcohol detox. Alcohol is a substance that is cunning in the sense that it’s perfectly legal for any individual to purchase it provided that they are over the age of 21. Sadly, many individuals develop an addiction to alcohol addiction as a result of starting to drink long before they turn 21. If you have an alcohol addiction, you will notice that after just a few hours of sobriety, you will begin to crave this substance. In turn, these cravings can lead to withdrawal symptoms, which can make you incredibly sick unless you receive the care you need.

Similar to drug detox, you will need to spend approximately seven days in alcohol detox with the worst of your withdrawal symptoms manifesting within the first three days of your time in detox. Depending on your level of addiction, there is a strong possibility that you can start to experience withdrawal symptoms within just a few hours from the time that you last consumed your drink of choice. This is all the more reason for you to reach out to our treatment center as soon as possible so that we can coordinate a safe plan for you for detox.

Alcohol Rehab

A plan for alcohol addiction treatment is something that always has to be personalized to suit the needs of that individual. Like drugs, alcohol is something that can affect a person in many different ways. While you’re working through this type of rehab program, your focus will be on taking a deep dive into the root cause of your addiction. For countless people, this is something that can be a tremendous struggle. However, when you make the conscious decision to work through your alcohol addiction, you will come to find that your life can completely change. Life without alcohol is always possible, and when you have the right help in place, there are countless things that you can accomplish.

Inpatient Addiction Treatment

It wouldn’t be uncommon for an individual new to the world of addiction treatment to think that inpatient and residential treatment are exactly the same. The reality is that there are several distinct differences between these two treatment options. Inpatient addiction is the most intensive form of addiction treatment and requires 24/7 monitoring. The goal of inpatient addiction treatment is to stabilize the symptoms of not only addiction but also mental health which is why inpatient treatment is usually something that usually happens in a more hospital-like setting. Once you find this stabilization, you will be in a better frame of mind to continue to take steps toward working through your addiction, regardless of whether this addiction is to drugs or alcohol.

Residential Drug Rehab

Residential drug rehab is a step down from an inpatient treatment program. You will still receive care and monitoring from your treatment team, however, this treatment environment will be more relaxed. You will have the opportunity to enjoy a home-away-from-home type of environment when you’re working through a residential program. As such, you will have access to a variety of different amenities which will make you feel more like you’re at home. From a warm and comfortable bed to healthy and nutritious food to a variety of sober activities that you can take part in outside of the time that you’re in therapy, you will come to find that residential treatment may be exactly what you need to be able to conquer your addiction once and for all.

Residential Alcohol Rehab

If you have very struggled with alcohol addiction, you can attest to the fact that living with another individual who casually drinks or has their own addiction is all but impossible. When you’re continuously faced with interacting with alcohol use through another individual, you may talk yourself out of getting care and giving in to your addiction. However, when you commit to residential alcohol addiction, you have the comfort of knowing that those around you have the same goals. Therefore, you will live in an environment that is completely free of all alcohol. You will be able to exclusively focus on yourself and what you need to do to work through your addiction.

Prescription Drug Rehab

An addiction to prescription drugs is something that can develop for a variety of reasons. In some cases, a person may develop an addiction to prescription drugs as a result of being prescribed this substance due to an injury. Although there are tremendous benefits associated with using prescription drugs for pain management, several downfalls come from the fact that these substances have addictive qualities.

Other people take prescription drugs due to a mental illness that they may be struggling with. Some people don’t realize that the substances that they are taking have their own addictive nature. As a result, they consume a higher dose than what their doctor prescribed. This puts them in a precarious situation because they will either be left looking to the black market to feed their addiction or they may try to frequently change doctors so they can maintain their addiction.

When you’re ready to face your prescription drug addiction, you can do so through either an inpatient or an outpatient treatment program. You may want to begin in an inpatient program and transition into an outpatient program as you work through the different aspects of your addiction. Overall, however, your treatment team will provide you with the guidance you need to make the important changes in your life necessary to tackle this serious form of substance abuse.

Outpatient Addiction Treatment

Although there are tremendous benefits associated with inpatient and residential treatment, many people cannot commit to this type of treatment structure. The reason behind this is different for every person. For example, an individual struggling with addiction may not feel comfortable with the premise of inpatient or residential treatment or may have full-time or even part-time work or school responsibilities that they need to see to. Simply because you don’t feel comfortable or can’t commit to an inpatient or residential treatment due to practice reasons doesn’t mean that you cannot get the addiction assistance that you need. Instead, you could work through an outpatient treatment program. An outpatient treatment program is something that comes in many different shapes and forms. It’s more flexible compared to its inpatient or residential treatment counterpart, which makes it easier for an individual to adapt.

IOP Rehab

One of the forms of outpatient treatment that you may want to consider is an IOP. An IOP is short for an intensive outpatient program. You will spend a certain number of hours in addiction treatment each week, however, you will have the flexibility to go home each night. Although this is a more flexible treatment option, you will still focus on building a sense of schedule and structure which is something that will only benefit you as you work through your addiction treatment. You will still participate in all of the same forms of addiction therapy that you would have experienced during inpatient treatment, however, you will have the opportunity to still maintain your work or school responsibilities which is something that makes an intensive outpatient program that much more appealing.

PHP Rehab

A partial hospitalization program also referred to as a PHP, is a step down from an inpatient or a residential treatment program in many ways. PHP usually offers more of a structured program in comparison to other outpatient treatments and is a great benefit for an individual who also struggles with mental health in addition to their alcohol or drug addiction issues. Just as in an intensive outpatient program, you will still participate in different forms of therapy during structured hours throughout the week so that you’re able to overcome your addiction once and for all.

Sober Living & Aftercare

It’s understandable that you may feel completely overwhelmed as you transition into life outside of the security that comes with being in treatment. Although our recovery team will provide you with the tools that you need to make this adjustment, you should always take advantage of our sober living and aftercare programs. Sober living and aftercare give you the chance to slow butt surely adjust to a life outside of the structure that came along with treatment. You will have the opportunity to live in a sober living environment with other individuals who recently completed their addiction treatment. There will be certain rules that you need to follow when it comes to living in the sober living facility and you will be able to work or go to school throughout the day. When you reach the end of your addiction treatment plan, your recovery team will provide you with more information about your options for sober living.

When you’re done with your initial treatment program, you should strongly consider something else: regularly attend Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. You will quickly notice that Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings are similar to group therapy sessions because you will have the chance to share your thoughts and feelings about a particular subject throughout the meeting. Not only that, but you will also be able to listen to the experiences of others and their own recovery journey. Once again, this provides you with an excellent opportunity to build on your support system and learn what steps you can take to reach out for support when needed or provide support to another person that may be struggling as they work through their addiction.

Alumni Support

One of the best ways for you to remain focused on your goals for your recovery is to connect with other individuals who are actively working on those same goals for themselves. This is something that you will find through our alumni support program. This program allows you to interact with other alumni in different interactions or trips throughout the year to celebrate your sobriety and your success. Participating in the alumni support program is yet another way that you will be able to continue to build and grow your system of support which is critical throughout your recovery journey.
