What Is Inpatient Rehab?

Inpatient rehab is a residential care program, meaning you will move into the rehab center and live within its walls full-time, 24 hours a day. At Novo Detox, we have a comfortable, safe, and sober 6-bed residence, with healthy meals created on-site by our private chefs and plenty of snacks, smoothies, and fresh fruit and vegetables. There are games, TV, movies, books, PlayStation, a swimming pool, and other activities to participate in during your spare time. Your days will be busy with a structured schedule of therapy, groups, appointments, and other treatments and programming, giving you the best possible chance of staying in recovery long-term after you leave our treatment center.

The Novo Detox center also offers connections to outpatient programs for those who want to continue treatment while re-integrating back into their lives as sober individuals. This includes online treatments, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and other customized aftercare and alumni services.

What Is Inpatient Drug Rehab Like?

When you first arrive for treatment at Novo, your treatment will begin with a medical and psychological screening that includes personalized toxicology and pharmacogenetic blood screening to figure out which medications and treatments will work best for you. Our intake team will work with you to create a detox program, followed by a customized rehabilitation plan, and then you will begin detoxing immediately.

To prevent discomfort, anxiety, and any suffering of withdrawal symptoms, during detox you will be provided with prescription medications, medical care and treatments, therapy, and holistic treatments like yoga, herbology, reflexology, acupuncture, detox massage, Qigong, Tai Chi, and yoga may also be offered. You can stay in touch with family after a mandatory blackout period, with phone access at predetermined times of day and those with young children can arrange video calls.

Once your body has purged the toxins from your system, and you are medically and emotionally stable enough to move forward into rehab, your program will begin. You will sleep in your comfortable shared or private room, attend therapy, treatments, and health programs, meet with your primary therapists twice a week, and attend up to 47 hours a week of group therapy. You will have case management services to help you with practical issues and life skills, and dual diagnosis treatments will help you work through mental health issues during addiction treatment. Our team will treat you with the respect and care you deserve as you work on healing from your addiction, recovering in the body and the mind, and through wellness treatments regaining your sense of self-worth and purpose.

How Long Does Inpatient Rehab in San Francisco Last?

Rehabilitation is a personal process that cannot be rushed. Everybody has their own timeline for overcoming addiction, and at Novo Detox, we create customized treatment plans that work with your individual requirements, budget, preferences, and practical needs. Some factors that affect the timeline include your level of addiction and which substance(s) you are detoxing and rehabilitating from, your mental health and physical health at the time of rehabilitation, your unique biological and metabolic needs, and your overall comfort level. Detox usually takes 5 to 10 days on average, and most patients stay in our inpatient rehab program for 30 to 90 days.

30-Day Rehab

When you come to inpatient (residential) rehab, you can expect to stay for at least 30 days. This is the minimum recommended amount of time, as it takes more than a few weeks to establish healthy routines, work through the underlying causes of addiction, and heal the body, the mind, and the spirit. You will be surrounded by supportive staff, care providers, and peers, away from drugs and alcohol, and removed from your everyday life, so you can focus on yourself and the healing process without distraction.

60-Day Rehab

Living in our luxurious facility, with full support and encouragement and a healthy schedule with nutritious food, exercise, and plenty of groups, therapy, and other treatments for 60 days can provide you with the fresh start you need after addiction. You will have two full months working on building healthy habits, healing underlying emotional pain, and learning valuable tools and resources to help you avoid relapsing once you leave the treatment center. Those with more severe addiction and those on a medication-assisted treatment program for detoxing may also find it easier to work through detox and rehabilitation staying in rehab for 60 days, with full support day and night, rather than moving home immediately.

90-Day Rehab

90 days may sound like a long time, but for many people, the longer spent in inpatient rehab away from life’s triggers and temptations, the better overall chance of long-term recovery there will be. A person with a co-occurring mental health disorder who is in dual diagnosis care or anybody starting a new medication may wish to extend their stay, as inpatient rehab has full-time medical care and monitoring services. 90 days will also provide more time to explore the type of person you want to be when you leave rehab, set goals, and take steps to begin the process of achieving those goals. Our team can help you to develop the life skills, habits, and community you will need to avoid relapsing and move forward on a healthier and more fulfilled life path.

Executive Drug Rehab in San Francisco

As a San Francisco executive, you are accustomed to a certain standard of professionalism, comfort, quality care, and discretion. At Novo, we uphold these standards, providing the treatments you need to overcome drug addiction and/or alcohol addiction without sacrificing your sense of self, comfort, or privacy. Along with our in-person detox and residential rehabilitation programs, our caseworkers can help you find outpatient treatments to extend your program as you return to your job, and we also provide telehealth services for California residents with weekly one-on-one therapy, group sessions, case management, and psychiatric treatments through a secure online platform.

Breathwork Therapy

Breathwork is exactly what it sounds like, it is a deliberate control of the breath that can change how a person feels, improving mental clarity and relaxation in the body. Depending on how it is used, breathwork can increase energy levels or it can induce a sense of calm. This method is used to help those with anxiety, PTSD, anger issues, chronic pain, grief, and substance use disorders.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CognitiveBehavioral Therapy (CBT) is a popular type of treatment for all types of mental health issues and substance use disorders because it works for teaching patients new ways of thinking that positively affect behavior and emotion while challenging underlying core beliefs and self-destructive behaviors. Patients learn to cope with stress in healthy ways, change thought patterns, and gain healthier habits.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that focuses on the social and emotional aspects of addiction, providing insight into the “why” of addiction while providing tools and skills like mindfulness, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness to allow patients to learn ways of replacing negative feelings and behaviors with positive ones.

Family Systems Therapy

In Family Systems Therapy, the main idea is that you are who you are because of your family system and upbringing. Your family relationships shape your identity and sense of self. This type of therapy addresses the inner psyche to generate change in your family roles and relationships through modalities like structural family therapy, strategic family therapy, and intergenerational family therapy.

Trauma-Informed Therapy

Trauma-Informed Therapy operates under the assumption that each of our patients may have gone through traumatic circumstances in their lives. A trauma-informed therapist aims to help patients to feel safe physically and emotionally during their treatment, knowing the signs of traumatization and working collaboratively with patients to ensure they get the treatment that is necessary using open communication, obtaining consent, and ensuring that patients are comfortable, feel listened to, and feel safe to ask questions at any time.
